Spring Cleaning Checklist for Your St. Pete Home

spring cleaning tips

We’re really passionate about a clean home. Our team doesn’t just clean for a career, we live and breathe the processes we preach. Most homeowners couldn’t feel more strongly about the exact opposite. A quick vacuum and weekly dustings are a breeze. Anything beyond that? Yeah, no thanks.

You’re in luck! We’re here to help you simplify spring cleaning this year. Here’s your go-to guide for thoroughly cleaning your home this season (and how to unwind once the dirty work is complete).

Toss the Clutter to the Curb

You know that old VCR sitting in the back of your storage closet? Yeah, that’s the kind of clutter we’re talking about. Get real about the items you’re holding onto. Before you can make a dent in the real cleaning tasks, you have to rid your home of things you no longer need. Channel your inner Marie Kondo to tidy your space and transform your life.

The best advice we can give is to keep only items that spark joy in your life. Hey, you might even make a little extra cash from selling that old coffee table! Assign each family member a couple different rooms around the house with an empty box. Everything they identify as clutter goes in the box. Of course, you get the final look before the boxes go to Goodwill.

Give Your Floor the TLC it Needs

No other part of your home receives the level of wear and tear that your floors take over the year. For a thorough clean, you have to get down on your hands and knees to scrub the grout, floorboards, carpets and area rugs.

This is the part of spring cleaning most homeowners loathe. Give yourself a full day to really get the job done. Simple instructions for cleaning tough stains on your floor:

  • Grout: Acidic and caustic cleaners like bleach or vinegar will slowly erode the grout. Instead, spray the area with hot water and scrub with an old toothbrush. Follow the grout lines and rub in a circular motion. Combine one part hydrogen peroxide to two parts baking soda and let the paste sit on the grout lines for 15 minutes. Scrub with the brush then wipe away with soap and warm water.

  • Carpet: Trust us, this is no small task. Vacuum your carpet then use a steamer on areas that need a little extra focus. If you want to freshen your space, mix 15 drops of essential oil with a 16-ounce box of baking soda. Sprinkle on your rug and carpet then vacuum.

Cleaning your carpet and area rugs is a whole lot of work. You could spend a whole day scrubbing and steaming to no avail. Leave it to Quality Care Plus for affordable, pristine results you just can’t beat.

Unwind With Cocktails and Canapés Along Tampa Bay

Celebrate your hard work at the Bier Garden and food stalls inside Sparkman Wharf. Kick back on a porch swing with waterfront views and lifesize board games. Our favorite way to do the Wharf? Check out the live music schedule, then fill your afternoon with fresh oysters from Boat Run and a glass of vino from Montados. You’re in for a treat however you do it.

Skip spring cleaning altogether and leave it to Tampa’s carpet, upholstery and rug cleaning pros. Chat with the Quality Care Plus team today for a free spring cleaning quote.
